Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Fund for Nature

What is the Fund for Nature?

The £1 million Fund for Nature is a revolving fund to deliver nature enhancements to help double the quality and quantity of rich wildlife habitats and natural green space, and improve access to them in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

The Fund backs landscape-scale projects of up to around £300,000 that can attract external investment and generate their own income, helping them become financially self-sustaining, with an ability to return capital back into the Fund to support further projects. Interest-free loans for up to seven years, with low interest applied from years 7 to 10 are currently available.

The Fund also provides small grants of up to £5,000 for community-led nature projects.

Landscape scale projects - who can apply?

When there is an open round, we welcome expressions of interest from:

  • Landowners and farmers combining food production with nature goals
  • Local authorities and public bodies improving green spaces
  • Conservation groups planning large-scale habitat restoration

Priority will be given to larger projects, with up to £300,000 in repayable funding available. Projects must provide match funding and show potential to attract further investment or generate income.
