FUNDING FOR NATURE

We’re committed to securing and directing investment towards projects that enable us to realise our doubling nature vision. Whether that be creating wetlands, restoring our chalk streams or enhancing our ancient woodlands.

Natural Cambridgeshire manages the £1 million Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Fund for Nature, funded by the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority. This fund can provide finance for large projects of up to £300,000 that attract external investment and which have the potential to either deliver significant Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) or generate an income stream.

BNG is a government policy that requires developers to leave nature in a better state than they found it, effectively acting as a ‘nature tax’ to fund local habitat improvements.

Working in partnership with the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation, we also provide community groups and organisations with advice and small grants to enable them to take action for nature on their doorsteps.

Whether you are interested in accessing funding or investing, you can find out more about the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Fund for Nature by clicking below.
If you are a landowner with sites suitable for nature finance or a developer seeking off-site Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) opportunities — please note that our BNG Sites Listing website is currently under development and will be launched soon. The site aims to highlight Off Site BNG opportunities within our priority areas.
