Our Vision

DOUBLING NATURE

Our vision to ‘double nature’ across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, which includes both the land managed for nature and the overall quality of nature, was launched in 2019, with wide support from all of our local authorities.

PRIORITY LANDSCAPES

Our vision brings into focus six Priority Landscapes. These have been chosen as they include the most internationally and nationally important nature sites in our area. They offer some of the greatest potential to enhance habitats for wildlife, to build in climate resilience through nature-based solutions and to enhance community wellbeing.

LOCAL NATURE RECOVERY STRATEGY

These landscapes are also integral to our Local Nature Recovery Strategy and are priorities for investment because they offer the greatest potential to realise nature recovery through application of the Lawton Principles of more, bigger, better and more joined-up areas for nature, and through being areas of socio-economic importance for the wider Cambridgeshire area.

Landowners with sites for nature finance or developers seeking off-site Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) opportunities — please note that our BNG Sites Listing website is currently under development and will be launched soon.
