John has an academic background in zoology and professional training as a chartered surveyor. He is currently acting Area Manager for Natural England’s West Anglia Area Team which includes Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
In this role, he is actively involved in supporting the delivery of the UK Government’s 25 Year Environment Plan, in particular, the development of a nature recovery network and increasing opportunities for more people to be engaged with and benefit from the natural environment.
As a resident of Cambridgeshire, he firmly believes in the need to create more nature-rich places, especially in the context of anticipated growth and our increasing awareness of the importance to people of a healthy natural environment.
