Professor Peter Landshoff

Trustee

As Emeritus Professor of Mathematical Physics at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at the University of Cambridge, Peter has been far from retired since he stopped being head of the School of Physical Sciences in 2004. Since then, he has become involved with a number of organisations that are trying to have a positive influence on the way the East of England is developing. This has included the Cam Catchment Partnership, Cambridge Past, Present & Future, and the business organisation, Cambridge Ahead.

Involvement with Cambridge Ahead enabled him to see a first draft of the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Independent Economic Commission report in June 2018, whereupon he protested that there was little about the natural environment. This led to him joining the board of Natural Cambridgeshire and to organising the Natural Environment Policy and Planning Forum, a continuing series of quarterly workshops that bring members of the county’s local authorities together with experts in the natural environment. Peter also runs the wider quarterly Natural Cambridgeshire Partnership Forum, including sending out a weekly news digest to some 400 interested people.
