Trustee (Secretary)

Most of Roger’s working life has been spent in Government Agencies, including Principal Scientist in the Water Resources Board and Central Water Planning Unit, Head of Marine Science in the Nature Conservancy Council and the Joint Nature Conservation Committee, and National Manager of Species and Biodiversity in English Nature. He has also been Joint Chief Editor of the Journals ‘Aquatic Conservation’ and ‘Conservation Evidence’, International Chief Scientist/Director of the Earthwatch Institute, Executive Chairman of Natura International, a Trustee/Director of the European Climate Foundation, Chair of the Marine Conservation Trust and Vice-Chair of the Marine Conservation Society, Director of HSBC Cares for the Environment Fund (Malta), Environmental Director of the Arcadia Fund, Chairman of the Management Board of the Corrour Estate (Scotland) and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.

Roger is presently a Trustee of Natural Cambridgeshire, Treasurer (formerly Chair) of the Cambridge Conservation Forum (a network of 80 conservation organisations), Director/Trustee of Amphibian and Reptile Conservation and the Herpetological Trust, Director of ARC Ecological Services Ltd., Chair of the Fens Biosphere Steering Group. Until recently he was also a Board Member of the Cambridge Conservation Initiative (a partnership of international biodiversity conservation organisations with the University of Cambridge).
