Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Future Parks Accelerator Project
Our Vision is to secure a sustainable future where our green spaces can thrive, helping people lead happy, healthy lives for generations to come.
The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Future Parks Accelerator (FPA) Project is an ambitious collaboration between the eight local authorities of Cambridgeshire & Peterborough and the Local Nature Partnership.
It aims to find new ways to deliver, manage and fund parks and open space, in order to ensure they are available for everyone, for generations to come.
The FPA Project, hosted by Cambridgeshire County Council, is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the National Trust, and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government. Our area is one of eight selected for funding nationally.
Eight places nominated for the FPA programme:
- Birmingham
- Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole
- Bristol
- Cambridgeshire & Peterborough
- Edinburgh
- Islington and Camden
- Nottingham
- Plymouth
The FPA project was created to safeguard the future of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough parks and green spaces, which that play an extremely important role for society, people and life. The focus areas of the project are: building lasting cross-sector partnerships, providing sustainable sources of funding and investment identifying partnership models, community engagement, and providing skills and training to help all of us collectively develop and care for our green spaces.
Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Future Parks Accelerator Project objectives:
- Collective leadership and shared ambition for our Parks and Public Open Space – develop the shared vision and common cause for the region’s parks and public open space. Consult stakeholders and empower local communities’ involvement.
- Plan for Open Space Management – Map and value open space, develop a plan for its management.
- Model for Delivery – Identify long-term, sustainable funding and governance models for new and existing parks, securing their future for generations to come.
- Evaluation – understand the project impact.
